oMuseu, PortoEmpty was shown in the exhibition Tocar, Suspender, Cingir e Pender… at oMuseu, Porto, in 2022. With this project, I wanted to push the idea of physical reality to the edge of disappearance, questioning how little “object” is needed for an artwork to exist. It became a way of testing the physical infrastructure that usually holds art in place—the plinths, frames, walls and devices that quietly shape how we see—and of scrutinising their impact in terms of material use and sustainability.
The work was intentionally ephemeral: it left no visual record, no photographs, no trace beyond memory and conversation. To experience Empty you had to be there, in the room, accepting that once the exhibition closed, the work would live on only as an absence and a recollection.
