Empty

2022
oMuseu, Porto
Empty was featured in the exhibition Tocar, Suspender, Cingir e Pender… at oMuseu in Porto in 2022. The project investigated the fragmentation of physical reality, pushing it to the boundaries of immateriality. It presented a radical interrogation of the physicality inherent in the presentation of artworks and the objects that support such displays, critically addressing their implications for sustainability.

Deliberately ephemeral, the project left no visual documentation. Experiencing the work was possible only by visiting the exhibition space.

You’re Not Enough

2020-2021
Casa da Cultura de Estarreja
You’re Not Enough is a video work that examines the ambivalent emotions surrounding the pursuit of a greener future and the environmental costs it entails. The project focuses on the transformation of the Serra da Freita landscapes, shaped by the construction of wind turbines for green energy production.

Through a series of contemplative fragments, the video juxtaposes the natural beauty of these landscapes with the industrial presence of the so-called "wind turbine parks." This contrast invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of progress, questioning the balance between ecological preservation and the sacrifices demanded by sustainable energy solutions.

Red Velvet

2020
Serra da Freita, Aveiro, Portugal
Red Velvet emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when Serra da Freita’s remote mountains became my escape from the confinement of the city. In that solitude, the landscape offered more than refuge—it became a site to imagine a world where reality and fiction merge.

Through this series, I sought to reimagine the familiar by amplifying its visual language. The hyper-saturated colors create an artificial and almost hostile environment, a deliberate choice to provoke discomfort and unease. These exaggerated tones reflect my response to the tension between the natural world and human intrusion—what happens when we extract, exploit, and commodify nature.

Red Velvet is not just a reflection of place but an exploration of how we shape and distort it through our perspectives and actions. It’s a visual fiction rooted in the real, inviting the viewer to confront the consequences of our estrangement from the environments we claim to inhabit.

EPHEMERA [Uma certeza inefável] by Ludmila Queirós

December 2019 - January 2020
Estação Viva Gallery, Portugal
Ludmila Queirós is a Portuguese mixed-media artist and researcher based in Coimbra, Portugal. Her work invites us into immersive worlds where the rhythms of human experience shift and transform unpredictably. Deeply influenced by literature and nature, Queirós weaves poetic reflections on profound philosophical questions into her practice.

In EPHEMERA, she explores the fleeting beauty of a mayfly’s life cycle, drawing poignant parallels to the transient and delicate nature of human existence. Through this work, Queirós invites us to contemplate the impermanence that defines life and the quiet beauty that arises within it.
